In May of 2000 the garden was lucky enough to have famous Philadelphia mosaic tile artist Isaiah Zagar create a beautiful mosaic tile mural, The Garden Goddesses, on one of the garden walls.
For two days neighbors and workshop participants helped construct this large piece of public art.
Isaiah is a nationally recognized Philadelphia artist who has had his work commissioned for public spaces and received a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in sculpture. A few years ago, Zagar received a $50,000 Pew Fellowship. The neighborhood is truly fortunate to have such a generous donation of art from this famous artist.
In March 2007, we were fortunate enough to have Isaiah add 4 more murals to our garden. Students from Moorestown Friends School helped complete these murals.
Often people walking through the neighborhood discover the murals feeling like they’ve discovered a hidden treasure. They later wind up bringing their friends and family to the garden to enjoy it.
